L.E. PHILLIPS MEMORIAL PUBLIC LIBRARY’S COMMUNITY INFORMATION DATABASE (CID) FAQS

WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY INFORMATION DATABASE (CID)?

In 1987, L. E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire, Wisconsin established the Area Information & Referral Service (AIRS) database and directory. Over the years, the database grew to include over 1,200 community clubs, organizations, and services and expanded its listings to include non-profit organizations and agencies in areas that housed at least one MORE library and was renamed the Community Information Database (CID).

In 2020, the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library assumed full responsibility for maintaining the CID and redesigned the site. The listings now include organizations, groups, and service organizations that primarily serve Eau Claire and its neighboring communities.

The CID collects, maintains, and disseminates human services and community organization information that enable community members to make informed choices to improve their quality of life. The CID covers a broad range of programs and services, from access services to basic human needs to enhancement of personal and social growth and community involvement.
