Download e-books using Freading, a service provided by the library.

Freading
Currently providing access to about 22,000 titles from over 100 publishers, Freading is a new e-book service provided by the library. New titles are being added regularly. Read on your computer or transfer to a portable device. One difference between Freading and the library's other e-book service, OverDrive, is that Freading titles are always available. No waiting lists. At this time, Kindles will not work with Freading. Provided by Library Ideas, Freading offers a variety of titles in a wide-range of topics. Each e-book is assigned a token value of 4, 2, or 1 token. Users will receive six tokens each week and can accumulate their unused tokens for four rolling weeks, at which time the account is cleared and starts over with the original six tokens allottment. Access to Freading is limited to L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library cardholders.

The Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project, a non-profit research organization in Washington, DC, is conducting an online survey of public library customers who borrow e-books. If you have checked out or downloaded e-books from a public library, please consider taking Pew Internet's survey, available at the link below. All responses will be confidential, although your answers may be quoted anonymously in a future report. The survey should take about 15 minutes. To take the survey, visit: Pew Internet Survey.
The Pew Internet Project will also be doing broader surveys of public library patrons general, as well as people (including non-library-users) who own e-readers or tablet computers. If you want to participate in those, you can sign up to be notified of future surveys here.
To learn more about the Project's research on e-reading and public libraries, visit the Pew Internet Project, which is entirely free and available to the public.
